BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT…

For families with students in grades 6, 7, and 8, your Back-to-School night is TONIGHT, September 5th from 6-8 pm. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet your student’s teachers and learn about our school’s academic curriculum and other activities!  See you there!!

 

CALLING ALL  LEAD  ROOM PARENTS!

If you signed up to be a Lead Room parent for your child’s class or are considering doing so, plan to attend the Lead Room parent coffee Thursday, Sept. 6th , 7:45am – 8am in the Awalt Room to enjoy a cup of coffee and learn more about this important role.  If you would like more information, contact Darlene Bowman, St. Ann’s Executive Assistant.

 

MEET OUR LEAD  ROOM PARENTS:

Our Lead Room Parents are an important link in the H.S.A’s ability to answer your questions and keep our school community informed.  Here’s our all-star group this year: (TBD)PreK-3, (Brett Richer)PreK-4, Nicole Grimm(Kindergarten), Tenisha Contee(1st) Darlene Bowman(2nd), Kimberly Walker-Johnson(3rd), Nikita Cloyd(4th), Dorrie Core (5th), Elizabeth Snee(6th), Tabitha Bullock(7th), Brenda Hall(8th).  Thanks to our lead room parents for volunteering this year!

 

CLASSROOM ACTIVITY FEES

Each family is asked to contribute $20 (cash is preferred) per student at the beginning of the school year to be used for classroom activities during the school year.  You can drop off the fee with your room parent at back-to-school night or drop it off in the school office in an envelope addressed to your room parent with your child(ren)’s names and grades and the total amount enclosed.  Thanks!

 

GALA & AUCTION

Planning for the annual Gala and Auction, our major school fundraiser, is just getting started.  There are many volunteer opportunities available from decorating, publicity, organizing souvenirs, set-up, greeting and clean up.   Contact Elizabeth Snee, 3rd and 6th grade parent at HYPERLINK “mailto:snee_elizabeth@bah.com”snee_elizabeth@bah.com if you would like to volunteer.

 

 

CALLING ALL ST. ANN’S FAMILIES

Please join the St. Ann’s parish community on Saturday, September 15th, from 5-7:30pm at the Kernan Court in the St. Ann’s gym for a fun family get-together.  Hot dogs and drinks provided, but please contribute a dessert treat.

Our 3nd Annual Back-to-School Family Ice Cream Social was a great success!!  Thanks to the teachers for volunteering and making the event run so smoothly.  Thanks to Ms. Leftwich for helping to serve up the treats, and thanks to all the families for supporting the event.  What a great group of families we have at our school!!  THANKS EVERYONE!!!

 

UNIFORM DONATIONS!

Donate outgrown uniforms to the St. Ann’s Uniform Closet! We need:   Blouses, Shirts, Sweaters, Pants, Shorts, Jumpers and Kilts in all sizes (but especially larger sizes for the upper grades!) Label them for size and wash the uniforms before turning them in!  Drop them off in the office and we will get them to the Uniform Closet!

 

SCRIP NOTES…

As a reminder, school policy requires that each family purchase $2000 worth of scrip over the course of the school year.  Use Scrip for everyday purchases like groceries and gas & those purchases add up fast!!  Buy cards Friday mornings in the gym from 7:45 – 8:15 am.   Please be sure you have an e-mail address, which you check regularly, on file with Mrs. Bowman so you receive important school information.

  Don’t forget to sign up your Giant Bonus Card &  Safeway Club Card. Last year, we earned $905 from Giant alone! Just e-mail your name, home address, e-mail address, phone # and Giant and Safeway Bonus Card #s to  HYPERLINK “mailto:jbrettskji48@gmail.com” jbrettskji48@gmail.com or print out the form on the school’s website and send it to the office.  Sign up your family members and friends too!

Saint Ann’s Academy Home and School Association (HSA) welcomes Saint Ann’s students and their families to the 2012 – 2013 school year! The HSA has lots of fun family activities and fundraisers planned for the upcoming year. Everyone is invited and encouraged to join in the fun and volunteer!

HOME AND SCHOOL ASSOCIATION MISSION

The HSA aims to positively impact the lives of Saint Ann’s Academy students and their families by sponsoring activities and events which further the Saint Ann’s Academy mission of educating students to be independent thinkers guided by Christian values.

HSA GOALS FOR 2012-2013 SCHOOL YEAR

• Encourage and foster a strong sense of community among Saint Ann’s students, faculty and families;

• Raise funds to enhance the educational experience of each student; and

• Support the efforts of the educational professionals who work with our children in accordance with the mission of Saint Ann’s Academy and the Catholic Schools Office of the Archdiocese of Washington.
